A former student of Ravenswood Academy and former member of the Watch, Orchid is a mutant whose body constantly emits a variety of mind-affecting pheremones. With concentration, she can control the effects of these pheremones. For maximum effect, direct contact is required.

In her previous superheroic identity as Crush, she was known for being flirtatious and likeable, but also immature and superficial. During the events of World in Flames, however, her teammate Cyclone was killed by Gamma. While held in a choke-hold by the weak-minded villain, she was able to use her powers to convince him to leave, as it was obvious the Watch would be unable to defeat him. She still bears a set of radiation-burn scars in the shape of hands on her throat from the encounter. In her superheroic identity, she wears a white or purple satin scarf to cover the scars.

Since this incident, Orchid has changed more than her name. Although she can still be ebuillient and charming at times, she has become a much more serious, adult young woman.
