Doctor Destiny

Trained in the arts of wizardry by an Egyptian mentor, Dr. Destiny took up the identity of an earlier “man of mystery” hero who had possessed more conventional abilities.

His costume was distinctive for the silver helmet he wore which, though it featured a slim band of runes down the center that would sometimes glow when he executed certain incantations, but which had no obvious visor or eyeholes.

This Dr. Destiny was a member of the Defenders of Justice, the homeland counterpart of the war-time Freedom Battallion; however, Dr. Destiny did fight in the invasion of Japan that ended the war.

After the war, he left the Defenders and became a dedicated hunter of Nazi mystics who fled Germany after the Allied invasion. Although it has not been comfirmed, it is rumored that he tracked the mystic villain Der Totenkopf to South America and defeated him in a titanic battle at the rim of an active Volcano. Dr. Destiny disappeared from public view for over twenty years until the appearance of Takofanes the Undying Lord in the American Midwest. Dr. Destiny was a key member and advisor to the coalition of heroes who halted the advance of the awesomely powerful archlich.

Today, Dr. Destiny is in his eighties and officially retired.

Following the events of World in Flames, he passed on the mantle of Doctor Destiny to his ward, who became Doctor Destiny II. Having trained his successor, he has left his cabin in rural Michigan and relocated to a modest neighborhood of Cairo.

Doc Destiny is also a friend to Nightraven, and an occasional instructor at Ravenswood Academy.
