Background

As she has only recently discovered (in Episode 9), Cypher is a kind of android. She is a unified, collective nanite intelligence that had originally taken on a pre-programmed human form. Although her true origin is unknown, it appears that she was designed as a sleeper agent to be activated at a later time. Her intermediate function appears to have been observe the world scientific community and to infiltrate key areas of the national defense structure of the United States. To this end, her memories and aspects of her personality were also preprogrammed to allow her to conform to the identity constructed for her within the world’s computer networks.

In her secret, fabricted identity, she is Doctor Emily Bartman, a world-renown scientist in the fields of robotics, nanotechnology, computer science, and chemistry. Until recently, she made use of a nanotech interface suit in her heroic identity to augment what she believed were nanotech modifications to her otherwise human form. She has since learned of her true nature as a synthetic being, and received an upgrade from Cypher AD that allows her to take on an armored, cybernaught form.

Powers & Abilities

Cypher can take a silvery metal form that is resitant to damage. In this form she is also able to project her consciousness into cyberspace. She is also able to exert considerable control over electronic devices and computers--extracting information from computers, controlling computer and robot intelligences, sapping the power from or destroying machines, and so forth.

In her cybernaught form, Cypher can also direct her nanotech machines to repair her physical form.

Cypher is not limited to a her secret identity form or her cybernaught form. She can direct the nanotech machines that make her up to take any humanoid shape; the change is at the the cellular level--thus, she can change her retinal pattern, DNA, etc. To date she has not demonstrated the ability to convincingly mimic specific individuals.

In any form, Cypher is superhumanly strong and able to leap long distances. She is also one of the foremost intelligences on the planet, gifted with the eidetic memory, the ability to understand any language, and the ability to acquire new skills and to process textual information at incredible speeds.
