Code Blue
Background / History
William Patterson, a mutant with the ability to heal serious wounds on contact and to move with superhuman swiftness, studied medicine at New York University before securing a job as an EMT. During his first year responding to calls in Hell's Kitchen, the personality of the formerly gregarious and optimistic Patterson began to darken. Many of the victims of the violence endemic to the neighborhood were innocent bystanders and children. Patterson burned with a desire to protect the neighborhood residents, not simply repair the damage. Responding to a call one night, he encountered a grisly scene--a house filled with the bodies of a neighborhood gang that had been terrorizing the neighborhood. He also discovered an inkblot card, the trademark of The Harbinger. To his own surprise, his reaction was not one of revulsion, but of satisfaction.
Patterson began seeking as much information as he could about Harbinger and his activities. Eventually, some of his inquiries came to Harbinger's attention and, one night the masked vigilante attacked him on the street, dragged him into a warehouse, and interrogated him. Learning of Patterson's special abilities, Harbinger began a cautious association with the young mutant. When Harbinger established the Punishers, he invited Patterson as a full member, providing him with the armored suit he now wears.
Powers / Abilities
A mutant with a unique combination of powers; Code Blue is a low-level speedster with the ability to heal serious wounds and revive fallen heroes simply by touching the target. In his secret identity, he is an EMT and so also possesses medical expertise. In his time with the Punishers, he has saved the lives of his teammates several times, as well as those of many citizens. He does not condone all of Harbinger's methods, especially his penchant for "executions," but firmly believes that by helping Harbinger he is protecting innocents from those who, directly or indirectly, would harm them.
